Well, I finally researched J. Vernon McGee on the internet today, after listening to his lessons for years on the radio (in Houston, Texas), and so found the Church of the Open Door. Yeay. I needed to hear at least your premise- When you are depressed or thinking of yourself, think again of Jesus' 2nd coming- was what I needed to hear today. I've been thinking about Matt 24 and 25 which is I think the same time as Mark 13.
My idea on prophecy is that it is as "special case" in the catagory of miracles- signs which direct us to believe in Him and increase our faith.

Hey Ed,

Gotta love how Jesus explained the future. In a world that brought us karma and reincarnation (circular history). The Bible says history is linear.

I think Biblical material concerning the unseen future is really teaching us how to live in the seen present. Or, seeing the future teaches me how to live today. That means prophetic teaching that focus on all the events and timelines really misses the point.

BTW..I'm ok with timelines.

Go get'em!
